KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the murder of a college student found dead at her family home in Subang Jaya on Thursday.
Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the victim, in her 20s, was discovered by her father in the living room on the second floor of the house about 11.55am.
“A medical assistant confirmed that the victim had died.”
Wan Azlan said a post-mortem conducted by a pathologist at Serdang Hospital confirmed the cause of death as bleeding around the hyoid bone in the neck.
“The injuries to the muscles and bone are consistent with manual strangulation.
“The case is being investigated for murder.”
He added that the victim, who lived with her sister and cousin, was believed to have been alone at home during the incident.
He said that no valuables were reported missing and there were no signs of a break-in.
