KLUANG: A 31-year-old man was killed after the four-wheel-drive vehicle he was driving crashed into the back of a lorry along KM41 of the Batu Pahat–Mersing road here.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at around 10.20am on Tuesday (Nov 11) and involved a lorry and a 4WD vehicle, both driven by local men aged 31.
He said initial investigations showed that the lorry was on its way from Kluang town towards UK Farm and had stopped to make a right turn at the junction.
“While the lorry was stationary, the 4WD vehicle coming from the same direction towards Batu Pahat is believed to have lost control and collided into the left rear side of the lorry,” he said here on Tuesday (Nov 11).
ACP Bahrin said the 4WD driver suffered severe head and body injuries and died at the scene while the lorry driver escaped unhurt.
He added the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
ACP Bahrin advised all road users to remain cautious and considerate while driving to avoid unwanted incidents.
He urged those with information on the accident may lodge a report at the nearest police station or contact the Kluang district police headquarters at 07-778 4222 or its hotline number at 07-776 6822.
