PETALING JAYA:
An unemployed man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl while dressed in a cartoon costume in Bachok, Kelantan, last week.
Fariz Ibrahim, 37, made the plea after the charge was read before Kota Bharu sessions court judge Nik Habri Muhamad, Kosmo reported.
He was charged with committing the offence at a playground in Pantai Irama, Bachok, at around 6.20pm on Sept 11.
The charge, framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and whipping, upon conviction.
The court did not allow Fariz bail and fixed Oct 23 for sentencing.
