OSAKA, Sept 8 (Bernama) —  Malaysia’s National Day celebration at Expo 2025 Osaka came alive with a dazzling showcase of culture and diversity, drawing strong applause from international visitors.

The event featured a colourful National Day Parade highlighting Malaysia’s multicultural identity through traditional costumes, music and dances.

Among the songs performed were Mentera Semerah Padi, Magunatip (Magalang, Sabah), Orang Ulu (Sarawak) and Saya Anak Malaysia. The parade lasted nearly two hours along a 1.2-kilometre stretch, drawing a large crowd of visitors.

National diving star Datuk Pandelela Rinong, who was part of the parade describing the experience as exciting and memorable.

“The experience at this expo is very exciting. When they invited me, I felt it was an honour to be here, to be part of the parade,” he said after joining the parade here today.

Pandelela said she was touched to see her Malaysian fans in attendance, as well as Japanese visitors showing admiration for the country’s cultural showcase.

“Of course I feel very proud. Happy because many fans of Malaysia also joined the parade. Japanese people, they love Malaysia. So I’m very happy that we are so welcome,” she added.

The Olympian also shared a message for young Malaysians, emphasising the importance of safeguarding national unity and cultural heritage.

“My advice to the youth is to always keep the harmony in Malaysia because that is our strength and the unity is what keep us together. Our cultural heritage also we must always preserve,” she said.

A Japanese visitor, Rena Nishiyama expressed joy and excitement after attending Malaysia’s National Day Parade.

“I feel so happy and excited,” she said with a wide smile, capturing the festive spirit of the occasion.

The visitor also shared her personal travel aspiration, noting that although she has never been to Malaysia, she hopes to go there one day.

Another visitor, Isidora from Serbia said Malaysia’s showcase at the expo brilliantly captured both the traditional and contemporary essence of Malaysian culture.

“You (Malaysia) made it possible for us to feel the Malaysian culture, not only the traditional but also the mix with the contemporary ones. It is always nice to see at the expo dozens of countries bringing their culture to the visitors,” she said.

She, although has not yet visited Malaysia, said the celebration has inspired her to explore the country one day.

Expo 2025 Osaka is a six-month event, running from April 13 to October 13, on the man-made island of Yumeshima in Osaka. Themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” the expo showcases innovative ideas, technologies and a diverse range of exhibits and events.
