KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian swimmers had another quiet day at the World Junior Championships at the Otopeni Aquatic Centre in Romania on Thursday.

The best performance among the Malaysians came from Dhuha Zulfikry in the men’s 800m freestyle heat, where he clocked 8:14.69 to finish 16th overall. However, it was well off Dhuha’s personal best of 8:12.67 set at the 2023 Hancock Championships in Australia.

In the women’s 50m butterfly, Megan Ho posted 28.51s to place 50th while Natalie Suyin Buckley finished 51st in 28.68s.

Megan’s personal best is 27.94s, the time that secured her gold at the Malaysia Invitational Age Group Championships in February, while Natalie’s best stands at 28.10s from the Malaysian Open in April.

In the 100m breaststroke, Isabelle Chiyi Buckley ended up 10th in Heat 8 with 1:15.25, slower than her personal best of 1:13.79 from the Malaysian Open.

In the women’s 200m backstroke, Chong Xin Lin finished 37th in 2:23.37, just outside her personal best of 2:23.12 that won her silver at the Malaysian Open in April.
