Malaysian man shot dead in Sungai Golok laid to rest


PASIR MAS: The remains of a Malaysian man who was shot dead at a house in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, Thailand, yesterday afternoon were laid to rest this afternoon.

The victim, Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, was buried at the Kampung Apam Islamic Cemetery in Apam Putra at 2.30pm, witnessed by about 100 family members, friends, and villagers.

Earlier, funeral prayers were performed at Masjid Kubur Besar in Sungai Golok after the post-mortem was completed at Golok Hospital.

The body was then transported to the Rantau Panjang Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex at around 11.30am before being brought home to Kampung Kepas Apam.

It was reported that Mohd Fuad Fahmie sustained severe injuries after being shot eight times by a man following an argument at around 6.40pm yesterday.

He was rushed to Sungai Golok Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead.

The suspect allegedly fled the scene, leaving behind a handgun believed to have been used in the incident.

Meanwhile, police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed that authorities have received information regarding the case.

He said police are still waiting for further information from their Thai counterpart.

“I was told that their investigation will cover all aspects including debt,” he added.
