Malaysia, Italy to expedite Petronas-ENI cooperation - Anwar


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Italy have agreed to expedite and finalise the strategic cooperation between Petronas and Italian energy company Eni S.p.A (ENI) soon, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ibrahim.

He said Malaysia is ready to welcome Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni to Kuala Lumpur early next year to finalise the Petronas-ENI strategic agreement.

IIn an earlier phone conversation, conveyed Malaysia’s readiness to welcome Meloni early next year to finalise the strategic partnership between Petronas and ENI.

“Both of us agreed to accelerate and finalise the Petronas-ENI collaboration soon.

“God willing, the close Malaysia-Italy relationship will continue to strengthen for the benefit of our peoples,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said Meloni also explained her absence from the 47th Asean Summit due to pressing domestic commitments in Rome.

“Prime Minister Meloni informed me of her need to remain in Rome to focus on budget-related legislation and ongoing discussions at the European Union level.

“I told her that Malaysia fully understands her domestic priorities and the need for her full attention at this time.”

also expressed appreciation to Italy for its consistent position in supporting peace, justice and humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

He thanked Prime Minister Meloni for Italy’s continued support for the call for peace, justice and humanitarian action in Gaza, a voice of conscience that is greatly needed on the global stage.
