Malaysia Cup: TRW Told Not To Fear Opponents

KOTA BHARU, Jan 18 (Bernama) — The Real Warriors FC (TRW FC) assistant head coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli does not want his players to feel intimidated when they face FC in the first round of the 16-team knockout stage of Malaysia Cup at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium here tomorrow night.

Akmal Rizal said instead he wants his players to play boldly to win the match on their home turf.

“The players need to be strong even though they realize that tomorrow night’s match will be difficult for us to win because FC is among the top five teams in the Malaysia League (M-League) at the moment.

“They ( FC) have a complete squad, quality players, both imported and local, so we need to work hard, and every player must have the desire to win, and not to be overwhelmed by the opposing team,” he said when met by Bernama recently.

Both teams competing in the Super League are eligible to compete in the Malaysia Cup this time to challenge 14 other teams to compete in the oldest football competition in Southeast Asia.

He hopes his players can maintain the momentum of their victory over Sabah FC in last week’s Super League match to challenge Selangor FC.
