PETALING JAYA:

Police have closed off the main road connecting Kerteh and Ranggon in Kemaman, Terengganu, to all vehicles after a gas pipeline leak was detected at a East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction site this morning.

Kemaman police chief Razi Rosli said they were alerted to the butane gas leak involving a Petronas Gas Bhd pipeline at 9.53am, Bernama reported.

He said the location of the leak was about 2km from the main road and was not near any residential area.

“We have fully closed the site from the public. The supply of gas to the pipeline has also been shut temporarily until maintenance works are completed,” he said.

Razi urged the public against approaching the scene to prevent any unwanted incidents.
