KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has stressed that it will not compromise on any form of misconduct or crime committed by its officers, following the arrest of a deputy public prosecutor recently assigned to the agency.
The officer, who had just reported for duty last week, was detained by the police on Sept 23 at his residence.
A subsequent inspection also led to the discovery of suspected drugs.
The MACC said the case has been handed over entirely to the police for further investigation, and it has pledged its full cooperation to the authorities.
“The commission will not tolerate any misconduct, breach of the law or criminal acts by any of its officers or staff.
“We are committed to upholding integrity and good governance at all times,” it said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 24).
The commission added that it remains firm in ensuring its personnel maintain the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
