PUTRAJAYA: The Fourth National Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption Research Conference will be held on Sept 18 and 19 to strengthen anti-corruption partnerships and serve as a platform for discussions on issues of integrity violations and governance weaknesses.
The conference, themed “Pembanterasan Rasuah: Bertunjangkan Tatakelola Baik dan Pembudayaan Integriti” (Combating Corruption: Based on Good Governance and Cultivating Integrity), is sponsored by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) through the National Governance Planning Division (BPGN) and will be held at the KLIA Movenpick Convention Centre in Sepang, Selangor.
BPGN senior director Datuk Idris Zaharudin said this year’s conference is the perfect platform for policy planning, as well as for industry players to evaluate, plan and implement strategic actions towards building a country that has integrity, strong governance, graft-free and prosperous.
“This conference is also an open presentation platform to all stakeholders, with the topics presented for them to take note of if there are useful improvement recommendations that can be implemented in the respective agencies,” he said in a statement today.
A total of 11 research presentations will be featured this year by 10 local research institutions, including Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).
He said the findings proposed in the research papers would be elevated to higher levels for consideration in national policy-making.
“It involves aspects of governance, integrity and anti-corruption, including through platforms such as the Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance and the National Governance Committee,” he said.
