MACC opens 24-hour operations room for Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections

KUALA LUMPUR: The Sabah MACC has opened an operations room to allow the public to submit information and lodge complaints on corruption and abuse of power during the Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections.

The 24-hour centre will operate from Jan 10 to 25 and is located at the Sandakan MACC branch on Jalan Labuk.

People can also submit complaints via email at [email protected] or contact 089-668746 and 011-18669877.

MACC reminded candidates and parties contesting the by-elections to refrain from activities that may violate the law and election regulations.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is a three-way contest between Barisan Nasional’s Mohd Kurniawan Naim, Warisan’s Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman and independent Goldam Hamid.

The Lamag state seat by-election is a fight between ‘s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.

The by-elections were called following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, on Dec 5 last year.

Polling day is on Jan 24, with early voting on Jan 20.
