: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officer has lodged a police report regarding a video clip shared on the “Pejuang Tun Dr Mahathir” Facebook account that contains allegations against its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The MACC, in a statement, acknowledged that the report was lodged at the Police Headquarters following allegations stemming from a video conversation involving a woman and a businessman named Albert Tei.

“The police report by the MACC officer is to enable the authorities to investigate the allegations as mentioned in the conversation, claiming that an individual had met the Chief Commissioner to request leniency in a case involving Albert Tei and to have the matter resolved amicably without further delay,” said a statement from the graftbusters on Thursday (Nov 27).

The officer in the report also said the video’s contents were malicious and aimed at tarnishing the Chief Commissioner’s reputation, despite MACC investigations being transparent and free of external influence.

“The conversation between the woman and the businessman, as shown in the video clip, is malicious, not only attempting to damage the reputation of the Chief Commissioner, but is also believed to be aimed at undermining the image and credibility of the MACC,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the MACC Strategic Communications Division confirmed the police report and said it was lodged to facilitate investigations into both individuals. – Bernama
