PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) can only freeze assets belonging to fugitive businessman Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan abroad if they are linked to the ongoing probe against him.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said they were working to identify the assets located abroad.
“Tracing assets overseas is not easy. It requires collaboration with other countries, and we need time to locate them
“Many jurisdictions will only cooperate if the assets are clearly tied to the offences under investigation. We have to follow the rule of law,” he told reporters after closing the Asean Parties Against Corruption (Asean-PAC) meeting here today.
