KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Police arrested a 46-year-old factory worker last night on suspicion of committing physical sexual abuse against a 12-year-old boy on Monday.

Kuala Muda District Police Chief ACP Hanyan Ramlan said the incident occurred around 9 pm Monday at the Bukit Bintang Ramlee area in Sungai Petani when the victim was with three friends, Berita Harian reported.

The suspect, who was riding a motorcycle, approached the child and lured him by offering a free bicycle.

The victim then followed the suspect to a house in Taman Sri Astana and returned to Bukit Bintang Ramlee with a bicycle.

The suspect once again offered another bicycle to the victim, who is the third child of four siblings, prompting the boy to follow him again.

The child was then taken to a forested area in Kampung Serukam where the suspect allegedly forced him to touch his private parts.

The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, was arrested last night to assist in investigations under Section 14(b) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

Police will apply for a remand order against the suspect today.
