KUALA LUMPUR: National development team coach Yusof Nasir has yet to finalise his squad for Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) which will be held on Sept 28-Oct 5.
Yusof said he will only announce his team after the conclusion of the Tour of Kedah (Sept 13-15) and Tour of Negri Sembilan (Sept 17-19).
“Our (national development team) riders will return to represent their respective states or clubs for the two tours,” said Yusof recently.
“We will select the best performers from these tours to represent the team at LTdL.”
Among those in the running for a spot in the LTdL squad includes Ren Bao Tsen, Afiq Huznie Othman, Muhsin Misbah and Shaiful Adlan Shukri.
Funding for the national development team, however, has always been tight and the situation is no different this season.
“We have a good group of riders who are talented and have been working hard in training. We hope to perform well at the LTdL,” Yusof added.
LTdL will cover over 1,200 kilometres this year. The UCI ProSeries event will feature two UCI WorldTeams this season – XDS Astana and Team Picnic PostNL.
French WorldTeam, Cofidis, withdrew from the tour last week and have been replaced by Equipp Kern Pharma (ProTeam).
