KAJANG: The lorry driver involved in a crash that killed a motorcyclist on the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Expressway has been remanded for three days.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 27-year-old was arrested in Kajang and the remand, which began today, will run until Tuesday.
“The driver was arrested in the Kajang area, and a three-day remand order was obtained,” he said.
“Initial police investigations found that the accident occurred when the lorry driver is believed to have dozed off,” he said.
In the incident at about 12.30pm yesterday, an engineer was killed after being crushed by the lorry.
Naazron said investigations revealed that the incident occurred when the lorry, travelling from Bahau towards Dengkil, suddenly veered from the left lane into the emergency lane without signalling and hit the motorcyclist.
He said the 39-year-old victim sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was also recorded by a vehicle’s dashboard camera and has since gone viral on social media.
