KOTA KINABALU: Lawyers for the mother of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir want biomechanics to be considered in the ongoing inquest into her death.
Lawyer Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh said the inquest should not rely solely on the autopsy, as biomechanics—the study of forces acting on the human body—could help the coroner understand how Zara died.
He said the legal team’s cross-examination would be postponed pending medical records and a site visit scheduled for Sept 11.
The team had just received the autopsy report and is awaiting access to other documents, including scans of handwritten diary entries, he said when met at the Coroner’s Court here.
Syarulnizam also urged restraint from all parties when commenting on the case.
