PETALING JAYA: The late Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King was not only a towering figure in business, media and culture, but a compassionate philanthropist deeply respected for his generosity and dedication to society, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The MCA president expressed heartfelt condolences to the Tiong family, adding that the late Tiong led an extraordinary and inspiring life.
Dr Wee also said he had the honour of meeting Tiong on several occasions.
“Through our conversations, I was deeply impressed by his courage to speak his mind and give unique insights on national affairs.
“As a visionary who firmly believed in the power of the media as the Fourth Estate, he upheld his journalistic ideals through both calm and turbulent times – a testament to his resilience and unwavering spirit.
“His contributions, achievements, and values will remain deeply cherished and remembered by the Malaysian Chinese community,” he said in a post on Tuesday (Nov 11).
Tiong passed away earlier on Tuesday.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Media Chinese International Ltd said Tiong, a substantial shareholder and honorary chairman of the company, passed away peacefully.
