LABUAN, Aug 21 (Bernama) — The Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) has reaffirmed its Corruption-Free Pledge with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), confirming its strong governance principles within its operations to ensure a corruption-free environment across the organisation.
Labuan FSA first signed the pledge in 2022, and this renewal marks the inclusion of newly recruited members of the management and staff, further reinforcing Labuan FSA’s collective commitment to combating corruption and fostering a culture of accountability and sound practices across the organisation.
Its director-general, Affendi Rashdi, said the authority adopts a zero-tolerance stance on unethical behaviour and corrupt practices.
He said that upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability remains central to its mandate as a regulator of the international business and financial centre.
“The organisation places strong emphasis on instilling good values in every employee, ensuring transparency in all dealings, strict compliance with legislation and regulations, and consistently upholding the highest standards of ethics and conduct,” he said at the signing ceremony for the pledge at the Labuan International School Mini Auditorium here, today.
Affendi led the pledge declaration, which was attended by close to 150 employees, including staff from its subsidiaries, witnessed by MACC Labuan Branch director Muhammat Azis Malmod.
In conjunction with the pledge signing, Labuan FSA also held an Integrity Forum titled ‘Integriti Di Meja’ to strengthen awareness and understanding of integrity values across the organisation.
Three distinguished forum panellists shared insights on integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct in the workplace, encouraging staff to embed these principles in daily decision-making and foster a culture of responsibility.
Labuan FSA’s anti-bribery and anti-corruption framework includes key initiatives such as the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Guidelines on Managing Conflict of Interest, Guidelines on Whistleblowing, and a Policy on the Management of Gifts, Entertainment and Corporate Hospitality.
The agency has also established the ‘Labuan FSA Speak Up Channel’, which enables employees and stakeholders to report any misconduct or unethical behaviour confidentially.
Affendi said further strengthening the agency’s efforts, Labuan FSA is working towards obtaining the ISO 37001:2025 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) Certification by 2026 as part of its Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP 2.0) 2024-2026.
“The certification pursuit underscores its unwavering commitment to embedding a culture of integrity and good governance.
“Integrity is not the responsibility of a few, but the duty of every individual. It begins with us, in the decisions we take at our desks and from there, we can nurture a clean, ethical, and accountable work culture,” he said.
Affendi reaffirmed that Labuan FSA adopts a zero-tolerance stance on unethical behaviour and corrupt practices.
“We place strong emphasis on embedding good values in every employee, ensuring transparency in our dealings, strict compliance with legislation and regulations, and upholding the highest standards of ethics and conduct.”
“By renewing its pledge, Labuan FSA underscores its continued cooperation with the MACC and other enforcement bodies, supporting efforts to uphold the highest standards of ethics and ensure a corruption-free workplace,” he added.
