KUALA LUMPUR: Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) has appointed Datuk Ahmad Redza Abdullah as the new chairman of the KTMB board of directors effective August this year.

KTMB said the appointment was welcomed by its board, senior management, and workforce, citing Ahmad Redza’s strong credentials and proven track record in legal and corporate governance.

Ahmad Redza brings over 30 years of experience in high-profile litigation and corporate advisory work.

He is the co-founder of Messrs Rashid & Lee and currently serves as managing partner at REC Legal (Redza Eleena Chong), a firm noted for its commercial and corporate litigation expertise.

“His leadership is expected to further strengthen KTMB’s governance and drive the company’s corporate transformation towards a more progressive and sustainable future,” the company said.

Throughout his career, Ahmad Redza has represented local and international firms in areas such as corporate restructuring, shareholder disputes, and legal matters in construction and banking.

KTMB believes his business acumen and regulatory insight will support the company’s long-term strategic direction.

KTMB also announced that Ir Ahmad Nizam Mohamed Amin, currently its chief technical officer, will assume the duties of group chief executive officer (GCEO) following the end of Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin’s tenure.

The company expressed its appreciation to Mohd Rani for his service and contributions to the rail industry.

KTMB said it is confident that under the leadership of Ahmad Redza and the support of its management team, the company is well-positioned for a new phase of growth focused on innovation, digitalisation and service excellence.
