KTMB Confirms Train Derailed At End Of Track At Butterworth Station


BUTTERWORTH,  Nov 8 (Bernama) — Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) confirmed that a six-car Komuter train set (SCS03) had derailed at the end of the track at Platform 4, Butterworth Station, here early today.

In a statement today, KTMB said the train was an empty set with no passengers onboard, operating under its daily schedule, and that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the 6.01 am incident.

“The KTMB technical team arrived at the location immediately after the incident, and work to remove the train set is underway to ensure the safety of the area and smooth operations at the station.

“Passengers at Butterworth Station are advised to comply with all safety instructions given by station staff to ensure smooth movement and safety of all parties,” read the statement.

KTMB said it is conducting further investigations to identify the exact cause of the exact cause of the derailment and will provide updates as new information becomes available.

It gave the assurance that operational and passenger safety remains its priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that train services continue to run smoothly as usual.
