PETALING JAYA: An empty six-car KTM Komuter train overshot the end of the track at Butterworth station on Saturday morning (Nov 8).

No injuries were reported, and passenger services are continuing on alternative platforms, according to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).

“The incident occurred on Platform 4 at 6.01am,” KTMB said in a statement Saturday.

KTMB stated that its technical team arrived at the site shortly after the incident and was working to secure the area and remove the train set.

“Recovery works are underway to ensure safety at the site and smooth operations at the station,” it said.

Passenger services at Butterworth continue to operate, with some platform adjustments.

“All passenger trains at Butterworth are operating as usual via Platforms 1 and 2, including ETS and KTM Komuter Utara services.

“Platforms 3 and 4 are temporarily closed to facilitate repairs and safety inspections,” it said.

The rail operator advised commuters to heed instructions from station staff and remain attentive to announcements regarding any platform or service changes.

KTMB confirms that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
