ALOR SETAR, Sept 13 (Bernama) — The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) continues to enhance child protection and welfare through its Child Protection Advocacy Programme, KASIH Kanak-Kanak, and the Jelajah Kasih Komuniti 2025, held today at the Pokok Sena Children’s Activity Centre (PAKK), near here.
Its Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said that the advocacy programme aimed to mobilise all levels of society, including parents and the local community, to ensure the welfare, safety and development of children were fully protected.
“This initiative also complements the government’s efforts to prevent all forms of abuse, neglect and exploitation, in accordance with the Child Act 2001.
“The care of all parties is very important because you are the eyes and ears of society. Do not be afraid to make a complaint, because the sooner a report is made, the sooner children can be saved,” she said during her speech at the programme.
Noraini also urged all parties to promptly report any instances of child abuse or neglect through Talian Kasih at 15999, WhatsApp 019-2615999, or the Talian Kasih mobile app.
“According to statistics from the Kedah Social Welfare Department (JKM), a total of 514 cases involving children were recorded in the state between January and July. This situation requires serious attention from all parties to find a solution.
“To address this issue, KPWKM, through JKM, has successfully implemented the Child Protection Advocacy Programme: KASIH Kanak-Kanak in 33 schools in the state, involving more than 10,303 participants in 2024. Following this success, the programme will be expanded to 300 more schools in 2025,” she said.
Noraini said that, to further strengthen efforts to protect and develop children, the government had extended the programme to 30 PAKKs nationwide.
“This initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening child protection advocacy, as a comprehensive and inclusive national movement,” she said.
