PETALING JAYA:

Storm-related water leakage affected parts of KLIA this afternoon, says the airport, which has deployed teams on-site to manage the situation.

KLIA said its engineering, operations and safety teams were on “high alert” and “prioritising passenger safety, containment efforts, and the protection of electrical systems”.

It said it was also in close contact with its airline partners to minimise operational impact.

“Enhanced monitoring is in place as thunderstorms and extreme weather are expected to continue until around 6pm,” KLIA said in a statement, adding that updates would be issued when necessary.

Earlier, a video posted on X showed water pouring from the roof and spreading across the floor near the luggage check-in area, with passengers avoiding the section.

The leak is the latest in a series of operational issues at KLIA, including aerotrain breakdowns and power outages.
