KL City frustrated by 10-man Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR: Ten-man Sabah delivered a late sucker punch to hold Kuala Lumpur City to a 1-1 draw in a Super League match at the KLFA Stadium on Wednesday.

Both teams played end-to- end football before disaster struck visitors Sabah, who were reduced to 10 men after Dean Pelekanos was shown a red card at the end of the first half.

Referee Zamzaidi Katimin sent off Pelekanos for a rough tackle on Ryan Lambert after a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) check.

The City Boys used their numerical advantage well in the second half and broke the deadlock through Declan Lambert’s deflected effort (64th minute).

However, Sabah had the last laugh after Gabriel Peres’ header deep into added time earned them the draw.

In another match, Terengganu had to dig deep to hold Police to a 2-2 draw at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak.

The Cops took the lead through Bernard Doumbia’s brace (13th and 57th), while the Turtles’ goals were scored by Azam Azmi Murad (63rd) and Yann Mabella (90th).

At the Hang Jebat Stadium, hosts Melaka were held to a 1-1 draw by Penang. The match saw the Panthers taking the lead through Dylan Wenzel-Halls (29th) before Melaka equalised through Juan Silva (70th).
