BATU KAWAN, Aug 9 (Bernama) — KL City Football Club (FC) head coach Risto Vidakovic described his team’s 3-0 victory over Immigration FC (IFC) at the Batu Kawan Stadium today as a promising start to their 2025/2026 Super League season campaign.
Vidakovic said despite having limited time to gel the squad due to many new players joining, his team opened the league strongly and executed the game plan well, showcasing their potential on the field.
“We just brought many players together in a very short time. It is not easy to expect something special today. But of course, I am very happy with the result,” he said at a post-match press conference.
“I think KL has not won their first game in the last 30 years, they always lose the opener. We broke that pattern today, and I think it is very important for us to gain more confidence, especially because we have many new players,” he added.
The Serbian coach said the performance showed the team is improving and hoped they would maintain consistency in upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, IFC head coach Yusri Che Lah acknowledged today’s match was challenging, especially as the newcomers still work to gel and find their rhythm.
He expressed hope that The Mighty Tigers would overcome these issues ahead of their next match against Kelantan United FC (KUFC) next Tuesday.
“There is still room for improvement, particularly in fitness, and we must intensify our efforts to achieve positive results in the coming games,” he said.
Yusri also praised his players’ fighting spirit despite KL City FC’s dominance, noting the importance of having the team in peak condition, especially the import players, given the short turnaround to the next match.
Commenting on the team’s failure to convert two penalties, Yusri refused to place full blame on his players, saying such misses are part of the game.
