KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 (Bernama) — The third edition of Kinofest Malaysia 2025, the annual German film festival, will take place from Oct 21 to 26 at the Faculty of Cinematic Arts, Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, Selangor.
The festival is jointly organised by Goethe-Institut Malaysia in collaboration with Komuniti Filem Titiwangsa (KOMFIT).
In a statement, Goethe-Institut Malaysia said this year’s festival holds special significance as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of KOMFIT, a dynamic collective of filmmakers and cinephiles committed to strengthening film discourse in Malaysia.
“The 2025 edition continues this tradition with a curated line-up of six award-winning German films and one Malaysian film, each followed by a moderated discussion with distinguished Malaysian practitioners and cultural commentators,” said the statement.
According to Goethe-Institut Malaysia, the festival highlights bold voices that reflect contemporary issues while drawing connections between German and Malaysian contexts.
“Kinofest 2025 is also part of a joint celebration with ten Goethe-Instituts across Southeast Asia and New Zealand, presenting the latest German films in Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Vietnam, New Zealand, and Malaysia,” it said.
It added that all screenings and discussions at Kinofest Malaysia 2025 are free and open to the public at MMU Cyberjaya.
