KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has issued a firm reminder on the proper wearing of honorary berets and badges on military uniforms.
Speaking at the 60th anniversary parade of the Special Forces Regiment at Kem Iskandar in Mersing today, His Majesty stressed that berets and badges worn on military uniforms are symbols of real qualifications, skills, and identity, and not decorative accessories.
“All berets and badges worn must reflect the wearer’s actual training, credentials, and achievements. These are not for show,” the King said.
His Majesty shared, “I myself completed Special Forces and parachute training at Fort Bragg in the United States. Therefore, I am entitled to wear those badges on my uniform.”
“However, if you have only received an honorary badge, it should only be worn during the specific event — not as part of your daily attire. So, to those who are not qualified to wear them… you know what needs to be done.”
“This morning, I’m only offering a mild reminder. If the shoe fits, wear it.”
