King briefed on upcoming state visit to Russia


KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, was officially briefed today on preparations for his upcoming state visit to the Russian Federation, scheduled for August.

The closed-door diplomatic briefing took place at Istana Negara and was led by Foreign Ministry chief secretary Datuk Seri Azman Mohd Zin.

Also present were the Russian Ambassador to Malaysia, Naiyl M. Latypov; the Foreign Ministry’s chief of protocol, Datuk Yubazlan Yusof; the government’s chief protocol officer, Datuk Rozainor Ramli; and the ministry’s European Division secretary, Abu Bakar Mamat.

Istana Negara’s chief administrator Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani was also present during the session.

The state visit, His Majesty’s first to Russia as King, is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties and explore strategic cooperation in trade, education, energy, and defence.

It follows a series of engagements aimed at deepening Malaysia’s foreign relations with key global partners.

Sultan Ibrahim’s reign has seen a renewed emphasis on global diplomacy, with the August visit poised to symbolise Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining strong international relations amid shifting global dynamics.
