Candidates in the Kinabatangan and Lamag by-elections intensify last-minute campaigning with house visits and events ahead of Saturday’s polling.
KINABATANGAN: Candidates in the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections intensified their final campaign efforts today.
They engaged in house-to-house visits and held small-scale programmes at polling district centres to secure voter support ahead of Saturday’s polling.
Barisan Nasional’s Lamag candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob attended a TVET programme, community activities, and a motorised convoy.
He planned to conclude his campaign with an informal meeting with party machinery in the evening.
BN‘s Kinabatangan candidate Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar began his day with a GiatMARA programme.
He then conducted a series of house visits and small-group talks to garner votes.
The Warisan candidate in Kinabatangan, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman, spent the day campaigning with party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal in the Kuamut state constituency.
Warisan’s Lamag candidate Mazliwati Abdul Malek and independent Kinabatangan candidate Goldam Hamid had not announced their final-day schedules.
Candidates also utilised social media platforms to deliver their closing messages to voters.
The Kinabatangan by-election is a three-cornered fight between Mohd Kurniawan Naim, Saddi, and Goldam.
The Lamag seat is a straight contest between Mohd Ismail and Mazliwati.
The by-elections were triggered by the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5.
A total of 48,526 voters are eligible in Kinabatangan, while Lamag has 13,703 registered voters.
