KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin brought together his Cambodian and Thai counterparts for a meeting with United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, in a show of joint commitment towards implementing the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord.

Khaled in a posting said the accord marked a historic step towards lasting peace and stability along the Cambodia-Thailand border, with Malaysia playing a facilitative role in advancing the process.

“Malaysia would continue to support the peace effort through dialogue, trust and regional cooperation under the spirit of Asean unity for security and prosperity.

“The collaboration reflected Asean’s collective resolve to strengthen regional security and promote stability through mutual understanding and cooperation,” he said.

At the recent 47th Asean Summit, the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord was signed between Thailand and Cambodia, marking a significant achievement that reflects both nations’ commitment to resolving their dispute peacefully.

The accord represents an official step towards ending hostilities and restoring peace along the contested border area between the two countries.
