KLANG, Nov 5 (Bernama) — The Selangor Best New Village Award 2025 is not merely a recognition, but a platform to strengthen community spirit, environmental cleanliness, and a sustainable living culture among residents, said Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the biennial programme was designed to encourage village leadership and the local community to work hand-in-hand in maintaining beauty, cleanliness, and social harmony to form a community that is healthy, prosperous, and resilient.
“This award is not just a competition. It is a community movement to instill a sense of love, responsibility, and togetherness in developing the village comprehensively.
“The cleanliness and beauty of the village area reflect the culture, discipline, and values of the community itself, besides directly impacting the level of health, well-being, and quality of life of the residents,” he said when speaking at the Selangor Best New Village Award 2025 ceremony here today.
Also present was Local Government and Tourism Executive Councillor Datuk Ng Suee Lim.
Amirudin also emphasised the role of village leadership and the Village Management and Security Committee (JPKK) as the main drivers in mobilising community activities.
He said the success of a village starts with a leadership that is visionary and close to the people, thus strengthening and creating a sense of belonging, discipline, and shared responsibility.
Amirudin stated that the award ceremony is also in line with the goals under the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in making Selangor a developed state that is balanced between economic progress and environmental sustainability.
At the ceremony, Kampung Bagan Pulau Ketam was crowned the winner of the Best New Village Award, followed by Kampung Sekinchan Site C and Kampung Baru Seri Setia.
Each winner took home cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000, and RM1,500 respectively, along with a trophy and a certificate of recognition.
