National singles shuttler Leong Jun Hao saw his World Championships debut end in the second round after falling to Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto in Paris today.
The world No 25 went down 21-17, 13-21, 23-25 to the 14th-ranked Nishimoto in an 89-minute battle at the Adidas Arena.
Jun Hao, who saved five match points in the decider, now shares a 3-3 head-to-head record with Nishimoto.
Jun Hao has endured a poor run on the BWF World Tour this season, suffering six first-round defeats.
Nishimoto advances to face Taiwan’s world No 6 Chou Tien Chen in the last-16.
