Jonah throws his hat into the SEA Games ring with new record

KUALA LUMPUR: National shot putter Jonah Chang received a morale boost ahead of the Thailand SEA Games in December after he broke his own national record at the Malaysian Educational Institutions Games (SIPMA) in Johor Bahru on Saturday.

The 22-year-old, representing Malaysian Universities (MASUM), threw 18.66 metres to erase his previous mark of 18.46m that he set at the Pahang Open last year.

Earl Isaac Mitzler Fredolin of the Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) took silver with a throw of 15.39m, while Nathanial Majid of MASUM was third with a distance of 15.14m.

Jonah is aiming to win a medal at the SEA Games. – BERNAMA
