Johor summit aims to ensure JS-SEZ benefits small entrepreneurs

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor state government is committed to ensuring that small entrepreneurs do not miss out on the positive impact of the rapidly progressing Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

State Youth, Sports, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah said that to achieve this goal, Johor, through Perbadanan Usahawan Johor Sdn Bhd (PUJB), in collaboration with Kotler Impact Asia and with the support of the Johor State Entrepreneurial Consultative Council (MPUNJ), will organise the Johor Business Summit & Expo 2025.

He said the event, set to take place on Oct 25 and 26 at the Persada International Convention Centre, will serve as a platform to connect investors in the JS-SEZ with local entrepreneurs.

“This is the first time such an event is being held, aimed at strengthening Johor’s entrepreneurial ecosystem through investment opportunities, trade, and business development, while also showcasing locally produced products.”

“It will feature over 90 exhibitors from various sectors, including food and beverage, technology, logistics, tourism, finance, healthcare, agriculture, and education.

“The expo will also welcome participation from nearly 10 countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, , the United States, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Cambodia.

“This clearly proves Johor’s growing appeal as a regional business hub — capable of connecting global networks, opening new investment opportunities, and reinforcing its position as a key trade gateway,” he said.

He was speaking at the pre-launch press conference for the Johor Business Summit & Expo 2025 held in Medini today.

Mohd Hairi added that the event is expected to attract 20,000 visitors over the two days.

“This event is more focused on business networking — creating space and opportunities for local entrepreneurs to move forward,” he said.
