Johor Regent promises a public holiday if JDT grab FA Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has said that Johor will have an occasional holiday if Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) wins the FA Cup.

Defending champions JDT will take on Sabah in the FA Cup final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Sunday (Dec 14) and Johor fans are expecting a holiday on Monday to celebrate the win.

JDT owner Tunku Ismail in a question and answer session with fans in Johor, said the state will be having a public holiday if they won the FA Cup.

“We will have a holiday if JDT wins the FA Cup, if there’s no win, there’s no holiday,” said Tunku Ismail.

“Anything can happen in the final, don’t be overconfident, last year with Pahang it was a tough final, before this also we had to tough final with Kuala Lumpur City.

“The Rhinos are entering the final for the first time after 27 years, while the Southern Tigers are entering their fourth consecutive final and in the hunt for their fifth FA Cup.”
