JOHOR BARU: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi will make an official visit to Singapore from July 30 to Aug 1 at the invitation of Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

The visit will also be made under the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship (LKYEF), established in 1991 to invite outstanding individuals to Singapore based on their track record and potential to contribute to their nations’ development and strengthen bilateral relations with Singapore.

In a statement by the island republic’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Onn Hafiz is the 82nd individual to be conferred the fellowship, and the ninth from Malaysia.

“During his visit, Onn Hafiz is scheduled to call on Singapore Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, as well as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong.

“He will also hold meetings with Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Health Minister Ong Ye Kung, National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat, Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow, and LKYEF chairman Lee Tzu Yang,” said the statement on Wednesday (July 30).

In addition, Onn Hafiz will receive briefings and make site visits related to urban development and hawker management.

The visit is expected to further enhance cooperation between Johor and Singapore, especially in the areas of infrastructure, trade, and people-to-people ties.
