PETALING JAYA: There will be no compromise on bullying or misconduct in any educational institution under the Education Ministry, says Fadhlina Sidek.
The Education Minister said, in a Facebook post Monday (Aug 18) that such cases must be handled fairly and transparently, following the established guidelines.
“I take the bullying incident involving a student in Johor, as reported by the media, very seriously.
“This case must be investigated promptly so that appropriate action can be taken,” she said in her Facebook post.
Previously, it had been reported that a 10-year-old male student, who is also suffering from nasal cancer, is now experiencing a concussion after allegedly being bullied at a religious school in Johor Bahru last February.
His mother, Siti Suhana Misdi, 39, also expressed her regret that the 12-year-old perpetrator was reportedly not subjected to appropriate action due to being underage.
Fadhlina further mentioned that the Johor State Education Department had visited the student, who is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
“Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing. I pray for this child’s swift recovery,” she added.
