KOTA KINABALU: An unemployed man has been arrested for allegedly making a seditious social media statement urging the public to raid the offices of the Sabah Chief Minister and Yang di-Pertua Negeri.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said the posting was made on Sunday (Sept 7), calling for the people to gather at these premises and raid them.
“We nabbed the 45-year-old suspect at around 2.45pm on Tuesday (Sept 9),” he said at a press conference here.
Police are still determining the motive for the seditious posting, he said, adding that they were not sure why the suspect made such a call.
On a separate matter, he said a retired teacher detained for allegedly threatening forensic pathologist Dr Jessie Hiu on social media has been remanded until Thursday (Sept 11).
The man was arrested in Semporna on Sunday after Dr Hiu, who testified in the ongoing Zara Qairina Mahathir inquest, received online threats last week.
