ALOR SETAR: Jealousy is believed to be the motive behind the murder of a man and a woman at Taman Nona, Guar Chempedak here.
Kedah deputy police chief Dept Comm Baderulhisham Baharudin stated that the autopsy report confirmed the victims had died from stab wounds.
“The 28-year-old woman had sustained about 20 stab and slash wounds to the chest, neck, arms and legs, while the male victim suffered eight stab and slash wounds to the chest, neck and back of the body,” he said during a press conference at state police headquarters on Sunday (Sept 14).
DCP Baderulhisam said a post-mortem was conducted on both bodies on Friday (Sept 12) at the forensic department of Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital, and the preliminary findings revealed that the cause of death for the female victim was “stab wound to the chest”, while the male victim’s cause of death was “stab wound to the neck”.
He said investigations revealed that the 29-year-old suspect was the husband of the female victim.
He said further checks found the suspect and the female victim are believed to be married with two sons aged two and four, from a marriage that reportedly took place in a neighbouring country in 2019.
“Police also had recovered the weapon that was believed to be used by the suspect in the incident,” he said.
He said the suspect was jealous of his wife, whom he believed had an affair with the male victim.
He was arrested in Kuala Terengganu at 9.45am on Friday.

DCP Baderulhisham said the suspects were arrested during an operation on Aug 24.
“Police have received a report regarding the theft of substation cables at Jalan Putra, Kampung Lubok Peringgi, on August 24.
