KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) extended their winning run to 12 matches in the Super League with a 4-1 victory over Kelantan The Real Warriors in Iskandar Puteri on Saturday.
The 11-time Super League title winners are ahead of the rest of the pack with 36 points, extending their lead to 12 points over Kuching City and Kuala Lumpur City.
Kelantan TRW, who last played in the Super League on Nov 22 in a 2-0 defeat to Selangor, are seventh on 11 points.
Jairo Da Silva put JDT ahead by heading in a Manuel Hidalgo cross to the far post in the 21st minute for his 12th Super League goal at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, tying with teammate Bergson Da Silva.
Brazilian striker Jairo hit the post from close range before wing-back Jonathan Silva struck the crossbar as JDT went close to claiming a second goal.
Spainard Teto Martin made it 2-0 with his third league goal in the 43rd minute after receiving a return pass from Jairo.
Fellow Spanish winger Oscar Arribas headed in a Hidalgo cross in the 52nd minute for his fourth league strike before Silva set up substitute Nazmi Faiz Mansor for JDT’s fourth goal four minutes later.
Nor Azam Azih pulled one back for Kelantan TRW from near the halfway line, catching JDT goalkeeper Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed off-guard in the 73rd minute.
Brunei’s Duli Pengiran Muda Mahkota (DPMM) defeated Sabah 3-1 in the Borneo derby at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu to rise to eighth in the table, level with Kelantan TRW.
Indonesian striker Ramadhan Sananta opened the scoring for DPMM when he broke from the defensive line up to slot past Sabah custodian Damien Lim in the 19th minute.
Tommy Mawat Bada rifled in DPMM’s second goal in the 74th minute, but just two minutes later, Ajdin Mujagic pulled a goal back for FA Cup runners-up Sabah after receiving a pass from Stuart Wilkin.
Azwan Ali Rahman made the points safe for DPMM with a goal four minutes from time with a strike from inside the box.
Negri Sembilan and KL drew 1-1 at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi.
KL scored after just five minutes when Kpah Sherman prodded the ball into the goal after exchanging passes with Nicolao Dumitru Cardoso but Joseph Esso cancelled the advantage with a header off a cross from Takumi Sasaki in the 90th minute.
