“Since 12:00 (0900 GMT), IDF troops began positioning themselves along the updated deployment lines in preparation for the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages.”
Meanwhile, in Nuseirat, thousands of Gazans began heading north in the territory after the Israeli military announced that a ceasefire had come into effect.
News cameras captured queues of men, women and children walking along the coastal road after the start of the truce at 0900 GMT.
On Sept 29, US President Donald Trump announced a new plan in a press conference at the White House alongside Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to end the conflict in Gaza. The plan led to talks between Hamas and Israel in Egypt to work out a ceasefire.
