Apple has taken the drap off the new iPhone Air, which the company claimed as the thinnest iPhone that it has ever made. Despite being light and thin, the new model can still deliver pro-level performance according to the Cupertino giant.
Slim, light, and durable

With a frame that is made from grade 5 titanium, the new iPhone Air has a thickness of just 5.6mm and weighs 165g. Despite that, the phone still comes with the Camera Control and Action buttons.
To ensure its durability, the IP68-rated model also has a Ceramic Shield on its back, while its 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display is covered by Ceramic Shield 2. In fact, Apple claimed that the iPhone Air is more durable than any iPhone that the company has released so far.
What does Apple mean by “pro performance”?

While the iPhone Air does not carry a pro moniker to its name, the device is powered by the new A19 Pro chip, which is also being used in the new iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. That being said, the A19 Pro used for the iPhone Air has one less GPU core than the version on its Max counterparts.
Meanwhile, Apple has implemented the 120Hz ProMotion dynamic refresh rate technology on all of the new iPhones announced today, including the iPhone Air. This model also comes with Always-On display and Dynamic Island functionalities.

The Air also features the new Apple N1 wireless networking chip, which is responsible for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread capabilities on the device. It has also been fitted with Apple C1X cellular modem, which the company claimed is faster than the modem in iPhone 16 Pro, while consuming less power.
Speaking about power consumption, Apple claimed that the iPhone Air has enough battery life to deliver video playback of up to 27 hours or 22 hours for video streaming.
Just one main camera for iPhone Air?

Unlike the iPhone 17 Pro’s tri-camera system, the iPhone Air is equipped with just one 48MP Fusion camera on its rear. Some might feel odd seeing this setup since the camera is housed within a huge “bump” and expect the device should have at least another camera.
However, the “bump” actually houses not only the rear camera but also Air’s front camera, speaker, and processor. Perhaps this is why Apple decided to go with just a single camera setup.

Nevertheless, the 48MP Fusion camera has quite a number of interesting features up its sleeves. Apple said that the camera has the equivalent of four lenses – 28mm, 35mm, and optical-quality 2x Telephoto, while it can also capture video footage in 4K60 fps Dolby Vision.
The new Center Stage front camera

Another feature that Apple has implemented on all of the new iPhones that the company announced at today’s Awe Dropping special event is the new Center Stage front camera. Equipped with an 18MP square-shaped image sensor, it provides a rather wide field of view.
This eliminates the need for users to rotate their camera if they want to take a group selfie. Not only that, Center Stage is smart enough to choose the best field of view when it detects a group selfie.

The new front camera is also capable of capturing 4K HDR video, complete with stabilisation enhancements. There is also the new Dual Capture feature that allows users to record videos using the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
