PETALING JAYA: Investigation papers by the special task force for the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir will be handed over to the deputy public prosecutor’s (DPP) office on Monday (Aug 18) for advice and further instructions.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigations Department director Comm Datuk M. Kumar, in a statement on Sunday (Aug 17), said that a total of 195 people have had their statements recorded.
This included teachers, students, wardens and parents.
“The police investigation has focused on two elements which is from the inquest aspect and from other criminal angles including bullying and the spread of fake news,” he said.
He reiterated that the investigation was done without fear or favour.
Previously, Comm Datuk M Kumar said Zara’s autopsy results showed she died from traumatic brain injuries as originally diagnosed by doctors.
He said these injuries were consistent with those sustained from a fall.
Zara died after she was believed to have fallen from the third floor of her school hostel at SMA Tun Datu Mustafa in Papar, on July 16.
