KOTA BARU: Investigation papers involving eight people who entered Malaysia from Sungai Golok without valid travel documents have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) Office, police said.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said they were awaiting further decisions.
“I am unable to comment on whether the case will be prosecuted, as it depends on the DPP’s decision.
“But I can confirm that we have submitted the investigation paper to the office recently,” he said.
Police recently uncovered a long-running tactic by Malaysians, including civil servants, to cross into Thailand without proper documents by simply waving at border checkpoints.
He said some travellers have been using so-called VIP lanes at the Rantau Panjang Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex to enter and exit Thailand.
