ALGIERS, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — The fourth Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025) closed in Algiers on Wednesday with a record 48.2 billion U.S. dollars in deals, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) said.

Afreximbank President Benedict Oramah called the outcome the most successful since the fair’s launch, exceeding earlier projections of 44 billion dollars. Algeria accounted for 11.6 billion dollars, or nearly a quarter of the total.

The agreements covered sectors including agriculture, energy, finance, health, and transport. The fair, organised by Afreximbank, the African Union and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, ran from Sept. 4 to 10 and drew more than 35,000 participants and 2,000 exhibitors from over 75 countries.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who opened the event, urged greater African economic integration, noting the continent’s 3 percent share of global trade despite its vast resources and population. Hosting for the first time, Algeria showcased energy, agriculture, and manufacturing industries.

The next edition will be held in Nigeria in 2027.
