TELUK INTAN: A property dispute is believed to be the motive behind the murder of a 62-year-old woman, whose body was found in a car after a police officer was attacked on Sept 7.
Perak police chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said the motive could only be fully determined with the arrest of the suspect, believed to have fled abroad through illegal routes.
“It is indeed an inheritance dispute, where all nine suspects previously detained are related. Efforts are being expanded to track him down. He holds the ‘key’ to this entire incident, and for now, we are focusing only on that one suspect, the driver.
He added that it is yet to be determined whether the fugitive was the mastermind.
“Immigration data confirmed no record of him leaving the country, so he may have used illegal crossings,” Noor Hisam said during the Ter.. Paling Pahlawan Challenge organised by Hilir Perak police at Padang Speedy, Teluk Intan.
In the incident which occurred at 1.15am on Sept 7, Constable Aziq Zulfikri Abdul Rajak, 26, was shot and stabbed while attempting to stop a suspicious vehicle at Taman Desa Pakatan, near Simpang Pulai, Ipoh.
The suspect fled with the policeman’s pistol, leaving behind the car and a woman’s body in the back seat of a Toyota Avanza.
Noor Hisam confirmed the pistol has not been found. Aziq remains under treatment at Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) and is reported to be stable.
