In Sarawak, Kenari driver who crashed into multiple vehicles on Sibu’s Jalan Oya gets three-day remand, tests positive for drugs

SIBU, Oct 6 — The driver of a Perodua Kenari who crashed into a motorcycle and several other vehicles on Jalan Oya here yesterday was today remanded for three days.

Magistrate Oon Kork Chern allowed the remand application submitted by investigation officer Insp Nurul Farhana Fadzil.

In a statement yesterday, Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the 25-year-old suspect was detained shortly after the incident and tested positive for amphetamine abuse.

“The one-minute-29-second video which went viral on Facebook shows the car crashing into a motorcycle, causing the rider to fall.

“The driver then fled the scene and hit several other vehicles in the area,” he said.

Zulkipli also said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — The Borneo Post
