In Perak, driver burnt to death after container lorry crashes, catches fire at KM254 of PLUS highway

IPOH, Nov 12 — A driver was burnt to death after the container lorry he was driving skidded and caught fire at Kilometre 254 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound early this morning.

According Bernama, Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said a team from the Kuala Kangsar and Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Stations rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.19am.

“The incident involved a refrigerated container lorry carrying vegetables, which is believed to have veered off the road before catching fire.

“The victim, a 64-year-old man, was confirmed dead at the scene by an investigating officer from the Kuala Kangsar District Police Headquarters based on his charred condition,” he said in a statement.

Shazlean said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action, and the operation was fully concluded at 5.07am.
